Should Drogba Be Given A New Chelsea Contract?

I am so glad to say that Didier has starting to run into a great bit of form and is back to terrorising defences again. After having a year with constant problems such as malaria and shoulder problems we are finally seeing a fit Drogba and what do u know,  Chelsea seem to be starting to go in the right direction again.

I heard the other day that he rejected a contract offer from Chelsea as he wants a 2 year deal and Chelsea are only willing to offer him a 1 year deal. Ok I am in two minds. I can understand where Chelsea are coming from as they feel that as he getting on in age its a risk but they are forgetting that he still one of the best strikers in the world and they really are not going to get anyone better any time soon.

Also the risk in my eyes isn't even as big as it once was. With rich clubs in the Asia, the Middle East and America always looking to buy older superstars to attract attention to there league I think that lets say for instance Drogba was to dip in form drastically we would still be able to get a good price for him. Also looking at what he has done for us over the years I think we should show some faith in him, look at old man Ryan Giggs. This guy is almost touching 40 and I still see him in the starting eleven for Man Utd killing guys ankles.

I do get that as players get old they may start to lose a yard or two of pace but in the case of Drogba he was never really blessed with blistering pace. And what these older player may lack in pace they make up with know how. To be honest I dont believe that there is ever any need to bring age into any debate like this, all that should really matter is whether  the player is good enough nothing more or less.

Lets talk, what do you think? Do you agree or am I totally wrong? Leave a comment and let me know your opinions.
